The Wool Basket to Host Hook-In; Northern Colorado’s Second Annual Hook-in to be Held September 22, 2006
Loveland, CO (PRWEB) July 7, 2006 -- The Wool Basket, the region's home for traditional and primitive rug hooking, wool appliqué, rug braiding, needle felting and Russian punch needle embroidery, will host the Second Annual Northern Colorado Hook-In on Friday, September 22, 2006.
Similar to a quilting bee, a hook-in is a gathering of rug hooking enthusiasts who come together to hook rugs, share ideas, find new projects to inspire them, eat, talk and share their love of this art. The event will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 533 North Grant Avenue in Loveland, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is $8.00 per person, and refreshments will be served. Door prizes will also be given away at the event.
Last year's event attracted 70 visitors. Organizers hope to nearly double that number for this year's event. Vendors will also be available for rug enthusiasts to purchase equipment and supplies, as well as some completed works. Rug hookers will each bring a rug or two to be put on display during the event.
For quilters a “Quilt-A-Fair” will be held after the hook-in on Friday evening and Saturday at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont Colorado. For artisans, those just getting started, or for anyone looking for a new craft, this year’s event will provide all the necessary ingredients to spend the whole weekend hooking, dyeing and quilting and enjoying the fruits of crafting.
